Block Paving in Thamesmead

Block paving is still the hardest-wearing driveway surface for Thamesmead homes, as long as it's laid properly. We lay concrete and clay block paving across SE28 on a deep compacted sub-base and screeded sharp sand, with concrete-haunched edges so the blocks stay tight and level under daily traffic.

We choose patterns (herringbone for driveways, stretcher bond or basketweave for paths) to suit the load and the look of the house, then kiln-dried sand the joints and plate-compact the surface. On request we add borders, banding and sealing.
